Sergei Yakushin immortalized his DNA at the Necropolis exhibition

Sergey Yakushin, President of the international exhibition "Necropolis", immortalized his DNA by preserving it in the DNA storage of the company "CryoRus". DNA freezing of the president of "Necropolis" took place on November 30, 2013 at the exhibition of funeral services.

To preserve the DNA, the specialist of CryoRus Company collected buccal epithelium cells (cells of the upper palate) of Sergey Borisovich Yakushin and placed them in a special storage tube with cryoprotectant, after which it was immersed in liquid nitrogen (the temperature of liquid nitrogen is -196 C). The process of DNA extraction and freezing was watched by guests and journalists of the event.

Being a fan of technology, the president of "Necropolis" thus made a new step towards the future. In Yakushin's opinion, it is quite possible that in the future "cyborg people may exist, and humans may live forever".

In addition to Sergei Yakushin, a 7-year-old boy had his DNA preserved at the exhibition. The boy's parents wanted to give their son an unusual gift. "We have been watching the CryoRus company for a long time, and our child has recently become interested in the novelties in the field of technology, so we decided to stimulate his interest with a contract with this company. The contract is for at least 25 years and includes genome decoding. This means that Mark will be one of the first to learn a lot of interesting and useful things about himself and his genes," said the boy's mother.

This year CryoRus participated in the Necropolis exhibition for the first time and was awarded the Big Gold Medal in the nomination "Research and Development, Experimental and Developmental Work". According to the organizers of the exhibition, the Big Gold Medal was awarded to CryoRus LLC for the introduction of human DNA preservation technology to the Russian market of funeral services, which was presented at the exhibition.

"We understand that we received this high honor not so much for our modest merits as for the vision we brought to the prospects of the funeral industry," said Valeria Udalova, General Director of CryoRus LLC.  - We will be glad and happy to cooperate with all companies in the funeral industry. Let's make the future together, the future in which everyone will be happier."

Speaking about the new service. Valeria noted that "knowing the genome of your relatives is not only interesting but also important information that can warn future generations against health problems."

It is possible to preserve your DNA or the DNA of your relatives not only during life, but also after the death of a person, the company "CryoRus" notes. The contract is designed for at least 25 years and includes sequencing (decoding) of the genome after the expiration of this period.

Company background:

CryoRus is the only cryonics company on the continent with its own cryopreservation facility. At the moment 34 patients have been cryonized in the company and more than 100 patients have already signed a contract for cryopreservation in the future. The company has been in existence for 7 years and currently holds approximately 15% of the global market.

Cryonics is the practice of freezing people (for legal reasons - after the fact of death) to ultra-low temperatures for their further preservation in liquid nitrogen. Thanks to cryonics it is possible to preserve people and animals in an unchanged state until the moment when in the future with the help of advanced technologies it will be possible to restore all functions of the organism.

The industry described earlier by science fiction writers has existed and developed for more than 40 years. In the United States, for example, clients of cryonics companies are not only ordinary citizens, but also show business stars such as Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. Cryonics has existed in Russia for 10 years already. Moreover, the popularity of this service has been growing rapidly recently.
